THE UNIVERSITY BUILDING: Describes the University Building's location at the corner of Fifth and Busseron Streets; gives the history of the building, description of the rooms: Chapel, Armory, Music Department, Recitation Rooms, Laboratories, Library, Bookstore, Latin & French Room, President's Office. PURPOSE: Describes V.U. 's unique position in the educational field, halfway between a commissioned high school and a full-fledged college. Right page: PURPOSE, cont.: Describes V.U. as a junior college, with graduates admitted at the junior level of other colleges, equivalence of V.U. 's junior and senior classes to the freshman and sophomore classes of four-year universities; unavailability of degrees, urging of students to continue studies and earn degrees at larger schools. Lists advantages of the small college, different purpose of this school to develop the student and furnish ideals and inspiration when the student is immature and unsettled, no attempt to do original work, aims of preparation, inspiration, awakening of ambition, training of faculties for specialization in a larger institution. Describes faculty as small, mature, well-trained, in sympathy with purpose of the school.
