Right page: Describes the University's claim for a final settlement with the state, the state's improper receipt of money from the land's sale, 1844 lawsuit to recover the land from the current owners, 1846 lawsuit against the State, dismissal of the 1844 suits, legal decisions and reversals, and the U. S. Supreme Court's decision in the University's favor. Right page: Describes two payments by the State, current worth of the land, vote of the Indiana Legislature of 1899 to pay the debt in full, veto of same by the Governor; appointment of an investigative committee, consisting of Senators Agnew, Inman, and Miller; submission of the report to the State, the Senate discussion, issuance of bonds, and indefinite postponement of discussion by the Indiana House.
