THE UNIVERSITY BUILDING: Describes the University Building's location on Fifth St. between Busseron and Broadway Sts.; the main building and new wing; describes the rooms on each floor: Chapel, Armory, Music Department, Laboratories, Recitation Rooms, Office, Library, Bookstore, Latin and French Room. PURPOSE: Describes V.U. 's unique position in the educational field, halfway between a commissioned high school and a full-fledged college; V.U. 's status as a junior college, with graduates admitted at the junior level of other colleges, examples of Leland Stanford, University of California, University of Illinois, Indiana University; equivalence of V.U. 's junior and senior classes to the freshman and sophomore classes of four-year universities. Right page: PURPOSE, cont.: Describes granting of diplomas, not degrees; lists advantages of the small college; describes different purpose of this school to develop the student and furnish ideals and inspiration when the student is immature and unsettled, aims of preparation for original work, inspiration, awakening of ambition, training for specialization in a larger institution.
