Pg. 32-33. Left page: ACADEMIC INFORMATION, cont.: WITHDRAWALS: Friday of the first week of the semester will be the last day the student may make changes in Registration without official approval. WITHDRAWAL FROM CLASS: Check V.U. course descriptions before requesting to withdrawal from class. Class withdrawal is not permitted in some English and psychology courses. The Dean of Students must approve before any withdrawal from all classes is official. INCOMPLETE AND CONDITIONED GRADES: An incomplete grade will be given ONLY in cases where the final examination is omitted or assignments for the last few weeks of the semester are incomplete because of illness or for a cause judged unavoidable. "I" (Incomplete) grades must be cleared by the designated official in the Dean of Students' office before being issued by the faculty. A student with three or more semester hours of incomplete work must petition the Academic Affairs Committee for permission to carry more than 12 semester hours. Right page: GRADES AND SCHOLASTIC STANDARDS: The quality of a student's work is indicated by the semester grades reported by the instructors to the Registrar at the close of each term. Exceptional students are honor at Commencement. To quality for honors in a particular field of study, a student must have a straight-A grade in the specified field with at least 12 hours of work, providing the overall index is 3.5 for two years work. All students with a 4.0 (straight-A) index for four semesters will receive special recognition. FINAL EXAMINATIONS: final examinations are given at the end of each semester. A student may be barred from final exams for: 1. unpaid campus traffic fines; 2. unpaid fees; 3. overdue library books; 4. failure to meet with academic advisers to pre-register for the next semester or to complete withdrawal or transfer papers, or 5. because of any other unfulfilled financial obligation or failure to comply with a University regulation.
