Pg. 22-23. Left page: THE VALLEY ADVANCE: Describes weekly community newspaper founded in Sept. 1964, providing opportunities for journalism in a realistic journalist situation. GENERAL COLLEGE ACTIVITIES: Describes more than 35 organizations and clubs that offer opportunities for students to pursue areas of interest, develop leadership, and meet new friends. There are five types of clubs and organizations: Academic Interest Groups, National Junior College Honoraries, Performing Arts Groups, Social Organizations, Activity Groups (sports). STUDENT SENATE: Describes the purpose and activities of the Student Senate. Right page: INTRAMURAL ATHLETIC PROGRAM: Describes the All-Student program, providing physical training and competiton in touch football, basketball, bowling, tennis, golf, archery, volleyball, softball, track and field, cross country, wrestling, table tennis and dance. Other groups are the Karate, Gymnastics, Archery and Keglers (bowling). INTERCOLLEGIATE SPORTS: Describes the important role of sports, with teams competing in basketball, track and field, cross country, golf, bowling, and tennis. PHYSICAL EDUCATION: Describes full time student requirement of two semesters, additional electives encouraged, varied program, carry-over value, wide variety of individual and team sport activities. STUDENT HEALTH PROGRAM: Describes objective of admitting students capable of functioning within the curriculum and providing a safe and healthful enviroment, physical examination and immunization requirements, annual T. B. tests, health history submission, administered under a university physican and a staff registered nurse. ILLNESS, ACCIDENTS, & LIABILITY: Describes liability insurance carried by the university against acccidents caused by negligence, examinations by the University physician, right to go to student's own physician, student's personal financial responsibility for treatment, full time duty nurse for minor accidents or illness.
