Left page: CHRISTMAS: Big Convo Caps Holiday Season On Campus: Text: Describes the festivities, including a traditional Christmas Dinner for faculty, students and staff, followed by the Christmas Convocation in Green Auditorium. The program featured a welcome from Wayne Singleton, Senior Class President; a Christmas songs concert by the Ensemble; introduction of the Queen Candidates; Kim Sturgeon singing "O Holy Night," the V.U. Playhouse's skit, "Holiday House," and Dr. Beckes' traditional Christmas message. Top left picture: Students in the Trailblazer Room enjoying the all-University Christmas Dinner. Middle left picture: V.U. Playhouse students performing the skit "Holiday House." Middle right picture: Dr. Beckes delivering his message and dismisses afternoon classes, a V.U. traditional custom of the Christmas Convocation. Left picture: Mr. Joe Robert Patrick, telegraph editor of the Des Moines Register & Tribune, and former national board member of the Presbyterian church, attended V.U. in 1941-42. Middle picture: Mr. Robert H. Begeman, supervisory electronics engineer and head of radar systems branch of the experimental research division of the U.S. Naval Avionics Facility in Indianapolis, as well as holder of many patents in the radar field and a national authority in the use of radar systems in national defense, received his Associate in Arts Degree in 1943. Right picture: Dr, Janet Berry, chemist and patent lawyer who now oversees all patent activities of the National Distillers liquor and chemical divisions, attended V.U. in 1939.
